Disciples of Jesus are also his brothers and sisters … all part of God’s family. That’s how we want Ichthus to feel, and how we want to organize — family.

As we gather around the common mission Jesus has given us to introduce people to him and help them become his followers, we need each other. “Two are better than one, for they have a good return for their work” (Ecclesiastes 4:9). It’s always been God’s plan to be present in a special way in groups that gather in Jesus’ name. So we need to gather and meet.

But how? Just throwing people who’ve signed up on a form or at an event together CAN work, but what we REALLY want is (in every aspect of Ichthus, not just here) God to put groups together. We don’t want programs or wooden structures, what we want is people who love God, and desire authentic relationship and camaraderie on Jesus’ mission to transform the world with his good news, to come together gladly to share life and know God better together.

So! That’s what we’re trying to do. Groups are always forming, and they’re always open to people who want to throw their hat in this particular ring or that. Sometimes they form around a common mission (Greek houses, a department on campus, etc.), sometimes they have a group of friends at their core who meet regularly and are eager to welcome people into their fellowship, sometimes there’s a new group of freshmen who all do a huddle or Discovery Group together and then just stay together as a group. There’s really not only one sort. If you like the thought of being part of one of these mini-families as part of the larger Ichthus family, contact Molly Gaug at mollygaug@gmail.com.
